Based in Melbourne, Florida, MacMAD is a user group devoted to helping each other explore the possibilities opened by the Apple Macintosh. After each meeting, all are welcome at a local restaurant where we indulge in a festive open discussion over pitchers of cokes, beers, and food stuffs galore. Thus our name, MacMAD, which stands for Macintosh Meeting and Drinking Society.
On
the first Wednesday and third Tuesday of every month, MacMAD members
enjoy club meetings, where we discuss the Macintosh in a social, yet
informative setting. Visitors are welcome and encouraged. In fact, we
ask existing MacMAD members to please bring guests!
The
first
Wednesday is a help session and
Novice SIG meeting, from 7:00 to 8:30 at the Eau Gallie Public
Library, 1521 Pineapple Ave. in Melbourne. Members and guests are
encouraged to bring their questions and Macs to this meeting, which
has an open format for lots of networking. Bring your disabled or
confused Macintosh to the meeting, and one of our members will do
their best to help you resolve your problem.
On the
third
Tuesday of each month, we hold
the MacMAD General Meeting from 7:00 to 8:30 at the Melbourne Public
Library, 540 Fee Ave. This meeting usually includes a guest speaker
with a presentation, and often a hardware or software demo.
After each meeting we all go out to dinner together (sometimes referred to as The Meeting After the Meeting). We continue discussions started at the meeting, talk about new software and hardware we've recently acquired, and sometimes even exchange recipes! Those of us who aren't gurus also enjoy listening to the propellerheads discuss the inner-workings of the Mac.
Dinner is sometimes followed by an outdoor gathering in the parking lot (or The Meeting After the Meeting After the Meeting). The quieter, less crowded setting allows for easier discussion, with no computers to distract us. Many of the real club decisions happen at this meeting.
Visitors are welcome and encouraged to attend our meetings. You may join MacMAD at any meeting. Or you can send your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address with $25 for one year's dues to:
